If you think the pressure at the TOUR Championship does not make the players nervous, then you haven’t listened to Chris Kirk.
“My whole body was shaking on that left‑edge three‑footer on the 18th hole, and so to know that I can perform when I’m feeling like that is a huge confidence boost for me,” said Kirk.
The par save on 18 gave Kirk a round of 68, and a T4 at the TOUR Championship. He finished second in the FedExCup standings, which equals $3 million in bonus earnings.
The money was part of the reason why the 29-year-old was shaking on 18. “Just the whole stage and how much money is at stake, and more importantly to me, the money is good and great, but just being able to perform on this kind of stage. That’s what’s important to me, to hit shots and hit good putts and make them and just to be under that kind of pressure and to be able to hit the good shots. That’s what makes you nervous, but that’s also why I play this game.”
Kirk had a great playoff run, and now it’s time to relax and cheer on his Georgia Bulldogs.
