I caught up with fans at Valhalla, along with world nos. 2 and 3 Adam Scott and Sergio Garcia, respectively, to talk about the appeal of Rory McIlroy and to touch on the rise of the “Rory Era.”
It was interesting speaking with the massive gallery of fans following McIlroy’s group on Friday — they were actually quite knowledgeable about the Ulsterman and his game. Which was quite the contrast from the mindless hordes following Tiger Woods on Thursday. It makes sense once you think about it — everyone wants to catch a glimpse of Woods because, well, he’s Tiger Woods, and they may not be the biggest or most well-informed “fans” in the world.
See what I mean?
