Ernie Els shot a six-under 65 on Sunday to move into a tie for sixth place at 11-under total. Els will not win the 96th PGA Championship, but he is encouraged after a solid performance.
The four-time major champion said, “It could have been something real special. I’m still quite pleased with that, you know, from what I have been all season long, not really on my game. But I feel that my clubs, the Adams clubs, we really got dialed in now. The putter feels good.”
He added, “I felt like I could birdie every hole. I just had that momentum going.”
Ernie went on to say his switch to a regular length putter is beginning to click for him. He works on his putting stroke with Dr. Sherylle Calder. “Just started feeling more secure and felt that the stroke is good. We’ll keep working.”
