Rickie Fowler has the best record of any player in the majors this year, and he caught fire in the middle part of his round to shoot a two-under 69. Fowler is currently T10, and in a good position to attack the next three rounds.
Fowler said, “Obviously you can’t win on Thursday, but you can take yourself out of it. Pleased with the way I got it around. Came back from a rough start, and lot of good swings out there.”
It wasn’t smooth sailing for Rickie after beginning his round on the 10th. He bogeyed 13 and 14 before birdieing 15.
Rickie said, “So turning point, probably making birdie on 15. That was ‑‑ the pin was kind of tough there, along with all the other ones. I was able to hit a good shot in there, good putt get moving forward from there.”
Fowler went on to birdie 17 and 18 to make the turn at one-under. He added birdies on 2 and 4, but gave one back on 9 for a two-under 69.
No one is more comfortable at the majors than Fowler, so he should be able to continue moving up the leader board as the week progresses.
