Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Jordan Spieth have been added to the field for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational beginning July 31st at Firestone Country Club. Spieth is in fifth place in the FedEx Cup Standings, but Woods and Mickelson are both looking for quality starts in order to make it to the Tour Championship.
Tiger’s back injury has put a damper on what was supposed to be his year. Woods missed three months after undergoing back surgery, and currently holds the 212th spot in the FedEx Cup Standings. A good week at both the British and the Bridgestone could go a long way, but then there are serious health concerns with four playoff events and a possible Ryder Cup bid. Hopefully, Tiger is cautious heading into the final stretch of the season.
Mickelson is 97th in the Standings, which qualifies him for the first two playoff events. It is time to get the ball rolling for Lefty as well.
Quick side note: Will LeBron James be in Akron this year for the WGC-Bridgestone?
