Adam Scott hopes to add to impressive major resume
By Bernie D'Amato under The Open Championship

World no. 1 Adam Scott should be the favorite to win this week. He has eight top-10s in the majors since 2011, and finished second at The Open in 2012 and T3 in 2013. If I had to bet on one player to win at Royal Liverpool, it would be Adam Scott.

At today’s press conference, Scott spoke about his pre-tournament prep. “I got up here on Thursday, and I’ve played every day. There was no range open up here then, so I just came out and played pretty much 18 every day except Saturday, I think I played 30 holes or so. Like I said, with just the idea of getting very comfortable and familiar with the golf course. It’s been good. It’s one of the weeks I look forward to most out of the whole year. I got to come and play The Open Championship course when it’s closed, the week before. It’s a real perk of the job, I think.”

Scott has every reason to enjoy playing the game. He has six top-10s on the PGA Tour this season, including a win at the Crowne Plaza Invitational the same week he ascended to no. 1 in the World Rankings. At Royal Liverpool, Scott hopes to continue his success on the golf course.

“I’m playing some of my best golf at the moment. And I don’t know how long that’s going to last. So I’ve got to try and take advantage of that and win all the events that I’d really love to win, and this is certainly one of them. I’ve given myself a couple of opportunities and haven’t done it. I think maybe the third time you have to do it or it might not come back around.”

Adam is glad to see Tiger playing again, and he knows the 14-time major champion is one of several players looking to take the top spot from him. “There are a bunch of us who also want to be in that spot. So it’s going to be I think some really good golf in the upcoming months with a lot of big tournaments, and see who wants it the most.”

Maybe we will see an Adam-Tiger showdown this weekend.
