Hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth! — and it included playing golf. I was going to be a good girl and stay home for the weekend and pack for the British Opens, while all my friends fled to different vacation spots in the Tri-State area.
Well, that got a little old by Thursday afternoon when the city was empty after the mass exodus for the long weekend, and I was already searching for alternative plans. Turned out my friend who’s a member at National Golf Links of America (NGLA) was at his home in Bridgehampton and happy to host me for a(nother) round.
Naturally, it was super windy due to the remnants of Hurricane Arthur, but it was sunny and beautiful, so I couldn’t really complain. It’s annoying, though — I swear, every time I play NGLA, it’s breezier than average. On Saturday, it was a 3-4 club (or more, at times) wind. Yep, I’m pretty sure I hit a 3-wood from 145 yards on no. 12. #spoiledgolferproblems
As longtime readers know, NGLA is my favorite course, so it’s always fun when I get the opportunity to play. I’d say more, but my flight to Manchester is about to board. That’s right, I’m covering back-to-back Opens again for Fox Sports International, which you won’t be able to watch unless you live in Asia!
Oh yeah, congrats to Angel Cabrera on his win at The Greenbrier Classic, his third Tour victory, but his maiden regular event — his other two titles came at the ’07 U.S. Open and the ’09 Masters.
See you in England! And enjoy these photos from NGLA!
