Once again, Michelle Wie is near the top of the leaderboard at an LPGA event. Wie is at 10-under total, one-stroke off the lead held by Shanshan Feng and Hee Young Park at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic in Ontario, Canada.
Last week’s T23 at the ShopRite LPGA Classic was a mere blip in the radar for Wie, who is second in the season-long Race to the CME Globe. Since the beginning of April, Michelle has a win, a second, two thirds, and a T9. The only player who has a better record over that time period is World No. 1 Stacy Lewis.
The U.S. Women’s Open will take place in a couple weeks, and the national championship is surely on Wie’s mind. Her career is enjoying a resurgence, and she has an opportunity to finally breakthrough at a major. Let’s hope the solid play continues at Pinehurst No. 2.
