Bubba Watson didn’t have the best time in the opening round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The 2012 Masters champion shot an 11-over 83 and then withdrew from the tournament, citing allergies.

Watson did his best impression of John Daly on the par-5 no. 6, going all “Tin Cup” on the tee shot –he knocked three in the water before his fourth finally found dry land. He took 11 strokes to get the ball in the hole. Yep, a sextuple bogey.

As PGA Tour player Bob Estes tweeted, “Daly not impressed.”

Up until today, Bubba has notched four consecutive top-10s, including a tie for second at the WGC-Cadillac Championship and a win at the Northern Trust Open.

Bubba sent a few tweets out after quitting pulling out of the tournament.

I empathize with bad allergies (as I’m suffering from them myself), but I wonder what Bubba kind of medicine he’s taking. Allegra works well for me — and doesn’t make you feel discombobulated — so I’d recommend trying that out. Bubba better find a solution before the Masters because the allergies at Augusta National are usually just as bad!
