Rory McIlroy proposed to his tennis pro girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki on New Year’s Eve in Sydney, Australia. Both took to Twitter to announce their engagement, along with pictures, including Caroline’s massive diamond ring and the backdrop of Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Rory, the former world no. 1 golfer, is with Caroline, 23, in Sydney as she prepares to play in the Australian Open starting on January 13. McIlroy had a rough year troubled with controversy both on and off the golf course, but he then took down Adam Scott at the Australian Open on December 1 for his first win of 2013.
Sounds like after a mostly rough year, things are now on the up for the 24-year-old golfer and looking even better for 2014.
In mid-October the Irish media reported that McIlroy and Wozniacki had split. If there were ever trouble in paradise, they’ve obviously patched things up.
