Video: Patrick Reed hits incredible shot to beat Jordan Spieth in playoff
By Stephanie Wei under PGA Tour

After a wayward drive, 23-year-old Patrick Reed stuck his approach shot to seven feet and rolled in the birdie putt to beat 20-year-old Jordan Spieth on the second playoff hole at the Wyndham Championship. And, of course, Reed’s wife, Justine, didn’t need to run out to the green to congratulate her husband because as his full-time caddie, she was already there.

Last year, Reed drove from one tournament venue to another to try and Monday qualify into PGA Tour events. He successfully did so six times in 12 attempts, which is an incredible feat in itself.

Kudos to Spieth, who started the year without status and relied on sponsors invites to play his way on Tour and even secured a win at the John Deere Classic. So, really, another victory would have been getting a bit greedy — it’s nice to share the wealth! The future is bright.
