Korda and Pressel celebrate

Partnered with Morgan Pressel in the Friday morning’s foursomes (alternate shot) matches, Solheim Cup rookie Jessica Korda hit her opening drive, which found the left rough. As she was walking up the fairway, she started eating a banana, and just after Pressel struck the approach shot, Korda basically lost her breakfast, according to Golfweek’s Julie Williams:

Sick suddenly from the rush of Solheim Cup nerves, Korda, 20, quickly stepped behind a tree.

“Do you mind if I just spit this out?” she asked the woman standing there. Then Korda tried to wash the taste down with water, and that came up too.

In the crowd a few holes later, younger sister Nelly Korda confessed to once puking at the beginning of her first golf tournament. Jessica, however, says this is a first.

“I don’t know what happened, I just know that the banana did not sit,” she said.

It’s crazy how nerves and adrenaline can make the body react…but hey, there’s nothing like a good boot and rally!

Korda and Pressel beat Catriona Matthew and Jodi Ewart Shadoff 3 and 2, and won the lone American point in the first session.
