Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia, who have some history, have provided the most drama of the week — or hell, for that matter, the year — in the third round of The Players Championship. (Un)fortunately, it was more through their words than their games, though.
Sergio being Sergio and very honest — which I’ve learned to find endearing — started it, otherwise known as The Incident — (I mean, if we’re going to be juvenile, might as well go with it…), and then, Tiger let it get to him, obviously, and snapped back an equally catty remark.
Q. I know you heard what Sergio said. What’s your explanation for what happened there on 2?
TIGER WOODS: Well, the marshals, they told me he already hit, so I pulled a club and was getting ready to play my shot, and then I hear his comments afterwards and not real surprising that he’s complaining about something.Q. Did you talk to him about it or did he talk to you?
TIGER WOODS: We didn’t do a lot of talking.Q. Did you know that he said that before you went back out or only just now?
TIGER WOODS: No, I knew.
Of course he did. I’m sure he only got 53 text messages immediately after.
You’re up, Sergio.
SERGIO GARCIA: That was a little bit unfortunate that I think sometimes people have to be a little bit more careful.
Q. He said it’s not surprising to hear you complaining about something was his response. How do you feel about hearing that?
SERGIO GARCIA: That’s fine. At least I’m true to myself. I know what I’m doing, and he can do whatever he wants.
Oh, snaps! Handbags have officially been thrown. Like I’ve said since being on Tour, it’s a sorority house out here! (Bizarre, I know.)

After all, this is the entertainment business!
You’re away, Tiger.
Meanwhile, the 162-ranked Swede leads.
