Cheyenne Woods, the niece of former world No. 1 Tiger Woods, will share more than the same last name as her uncle as she embarks on her pro career. The charismatic Wake Forest graduate was signed by Mark Steinberg of Excel Sports Management, according to the company’s website and Twitter feed.
“We are excited about the opportunity to represent Cheyenne,” Steinberg said in a statement. “She had an outstanding career at Wake Forest and has the chance to be a major star on the women’s golf scene.”
Cheyenne leaves the Demon Deacons as the team’s all-time top scorer, averaging 73.31 over her four years. She was a 2011 All-American and three-time All-ACC team member. She won two collegiate tournaments, including the 2011 ACC Championship by a commanding seven shots.
She will try to play on the LPGA this summer via sponsor’s exemptions and then attend the tour’s qualifying school later in the year.
Just curious: Did Tiger get a referral fee?
