Paul Casey made a hole-in-one on the par-3 15th at the Blue Monster in the final round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship. Watch the video and you’ll see Casey barely reacts and nearly looks disappointed after the ball disappears. Meanwhile, his caddie Craig Connelly goes nuts and practically mauls his boss.
A few minutes after the massive celebration, Connelly’s big smile turns upside down. What happened? I mean, he probably just won a car! Or half of one.
“We shook on the tee. I said ‘If I hole it I’ll split the prize with you, whether it’s a car, cash prize, we’ll split the prize,'” said Casey. “We shook on it, he handed me the eight iron, I knocked it
in the hole, and Craig went bananas.”
As you’ll see in the video, they’re quickly informed the shiny Cadillac was actually the reward for the par-3 13th. (Which is rather confusing since the car is sitting right behind the 15th tee.)
Casey posted a one-over 73 and placed T51 in his first start of the 2012 season. After dislocating his shoulder while snowboarding in December, he was put on the DL and hadn’t played 18 holes until his Monday practice round this week.
