It appears that Adam Scott has chosen this week to launch his annual fortnight-long hot streak. The Aussie, who began his round on the tenth, blazed his way to the first tee in 32 shots before adding an eagle to an already impressive card. At six-under through ten holes, he holds a two-shot lead over in-form oldsters Steve Stricker and Thomas Bjorn.
Feel free to tackle today’s BIG QUESTION (“Is Adam Scott a major-winner in the making or a soft-centred poseur with all the resilience of an elegantly crafted cheese soufflé?”), but there are other, marginally less pressing matters to be discussed:
- Rory v. Tiger: some people, like this (over)eager Atlantic columnist, are ready for golf’s next great rivalry.
- Tiger without Rory: level-par through six holes – what does it all mean!?
- Rory without Tiger: he’s faring even worse (+1 through 10); has burnout kicked in already?!
- Everyone else: that Charl Schwartzel’s quite something.
Observations, predictions and irrelevant ramblings below.
