As the competitors wind their way around a second of Monterey’s three venues, the leaderboard should begin to reflect the state of play a little more accurately. In the driving seat at the moment, though, are 21-year-old Danny Lee (once the youngest ever winner on the European Tour), Charlie Wi and big-hitting, slow-talking Dustin Johnson.
Points of Interest:
- How will Tiger Woods fare?
- If Dustin Johnson thought about what he was doing, he’d contend every week. [*Ed. Note: Maybe, but I think a more accurate statement would be if he could putt…–SW]
- Padraig Harrington, who opened with a two-under-par 68, needs to get his skates on if he’s to challenge for that spot at the top of the leaderboard. [*But he’s leading the Pro-Am part of the tournament!!! Aside: Saw him at dinner last night and it was probably the first time I’d seen him in normal clothes sans cap. He had a striking resemblance to Lloyd Christmas.]
- Whatever happened to J.J. Henry?
