Nice Effing Pants brings you the wackiest, ugliest and coolest pants (or skorts) in golf — from the pros to the weekend hacker.
Webb Simpson, currently the hottest golfer on the PGA Tour, continued his hot streak on Thursday at the BMW Championship, firing a sizzling six-under 65 at Cog Hill (which surprisingly wasn’t good enough to put him atop the leaderboard since Justin Rose carded an eight-under 63). And if he hasn’t caught your attention after winning two of the last three PGA Tour events, his sartorial choices may have!
I know there’s a good joke in there about Brandt Snedeker calling Webb because he wants to know what happened to his pants from The Heritage.
Anyway, interestingly enough, Webb even had a straight shank during his round. Then he admitted:
I probably shank one every other day on the range because one of my focuses in my swing is that I try to put as much force as I can on my downswing trying to get my weight through the ball, and a lot of times that club will get a little behind me and that face is open and the heel gets there first. I don’t get too panicked, especially when I’ve got a guy, my caddie right there with me, to tell me kind of exactly what I did. It’s a little embarrassing, but…
His voice trailed off and he smiled sheepishly as if he were thinking, “Whoops, maybe I said too much.”
Good news is last time Webb hit a shank during a competitive round — on the third hole at the Wyndham Championship — he won the tournament. Maybe it’s a good omen…?
