Dustin Johnson and former looper Bobby Brown will be reunited in the third round of the Deutsche Bank Championship.
It’s not quite the former caddie-player pairing we’ve been longing to see since Tiger Woods and Steve Williams split up (which will transpire at the Australian Open in November, sources say), especially after Williams’ strong words for Woods after new boss Adam Scott captured the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Though I doubt we’ll see any drama or tension between DJ and Brown, there still might be a hint of awkwardness. I mean, isn’t there always when you see your ex with his new squeeze for the first time?
Brown, who was on DJ’s bag for almost three years — including during the infamous ’10 US Open meltdown and the bunker-not-a-bunker debacle at the ’10 PGA Championship — until they parted ways in April, now caddies for rookie Kyle Stanley, whose results have improved noticeably since hiring Brown in May.
Meanwhile, Johnson picked up Fred Couples’ caddie of 20-plus years, the well-respected Joe LaCava, around the same time.
DJ and Brown Stanley tee off at 10:30am Sunday at TPC Boston.
