We’re a little over halfway through the second round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone and we have a four-way tie at the top! Overnight leader Adam Scott has been joined on eight-under by fan of hoodies and inappropriate ties Ryan Moore and the so-called Youth Movement’s Jason Day and Rickie Fowler.
Scott, playing for the first time with Steve Williams as his full-time bagman, followed up his 62 yesterday with a respectable, if unspectacular, 70 today. With the Australian in this kind of form, a weekend tee-time with Stevie’s erstwhile employer, a certain Tiger Woods, looks a distant possibility.
With his new, totally-sincere-and-built-to-last enthusiastic personality fixed firmly in place, the former World Number One covered the Firestone layout in 71 strokes, enough for a 36-hole aggregate total of one-under-par.
Among the big movers on today’s leaderboard are Scotland’s Marting Laird and rookie Keegan Bradley, both of whom have vaulted into a tie for fifth. The world’s best five-handicapper, Freddie Jacobsen, Lee Westwood and 2005 US Open champ Geoff Ogilvy sit a shot further adrift.
So, is Tiger back? Will this be another weekend for the Youth Movement? What will Ryan Moore wear next? Take to the comments and let us know what you’re thinking.
