… But none of that matters now, on Wednesday evening, because after a week of hanging around the putting green, it looks like the first alternate’s going to get his break after all. The Italian Open champion, Robert Rock isn’t going to be able to secure his US Visa in time.
Only, he does. And taking his place in the field, he leaves the Scot to watch the television coverage alone, where one of the men who rushed to complete that qualifying play-off in his absence, Johan Edfors, is piecing together a swashbuckling 70 and looking like he’s having the time of his life doing it.
