Low Scoring Ahoy! Your Players’ Championship Second Round Open Thread

Nick Watney looking quite pleased with himself

We may have lost Tiger, but there’s some serious golf in the offing this afternoon!

Nick Watney carded a stellar 64 yesterday and currently holds a one-shot lead over last week’s winner, Lucas Glover, whose facial hair conforms nearly exactly to my idea of a ‘proper’ beard: none of that messing about under the chin or shaving sideburns into amusing shapes.

Speaking of shaving sideburns into amusing shapes (segue= effortless), big-hitting fan favourite Alvaro Quiros is only three shots back of Watney’s lead, a score he shares with a few other Europeans– dangerman Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell and Frederik Jacobson, the world’s best five-handicap golfer– and comedy villain Rory Sabbatini.

David Toms has left himself three good rounds away from the Hall of Fame after carding a 66, leaving him alongside two-time major champion and bona fide ‘old person’ Mark O’Meara.
