Top caddies Billy Foster (Lee Westwood), JP Fitzgerald (Rory McIlroy) and Ken Comboy (Graeme McDowell) have rented the same house for 12 years from an elderly woman, Joyce Culpepper. She passed away a few months ago, but wrote in her will that the boys still were to be allowed to rent the house the week of The Masters for as many years as they wished.
Mrs. Culpepper’s niece lives in the home now, which has been completely renovated — except for one item: a chalkboard.
To Billy’s surprise, when he walked in the house, he saw the chalkboard with his handwriting on it from 12 months ago. He wrote a note on it last year saying, “Joyce, thanks so much, lots of love, Billy.”
“It was weird coming in to the house, which has been completely renovated, but then seeing the blackboard with my handwriting from 12 months ago,” said Foster. “I guess we meant a lot to her.”
Every year the guys cooked dinner one of the nights and invited Mrs. Culpepper to join them.
