As Padraig Harrington squeezed into a spot in front of Ryan Palmer at the bustling driving range at Innisbrook’s Copperhead course, Palmer asked, “You got your outfit picked?” Of course, Palmer meant for St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday. With a big, toothy smile, Harrington, who hails from Dublin, Ireland, said he did. I chimed in, suggesting jokingly that he should go for the all-green look.
“An Irishman wouldn’t do that,” replied Harrington, as he started to warm up with a training aid called the Impactor, which helps get the swing in sequence, according to his caddie, Ronan Flood.
Harrington says he plans to wear a green shirt, beige pants and a white hat emblazoned with a shamrock.
Joked Paddy, “It’s in laundry, so it better come back.”
As luck would have it, Harrington plays in the morning wave on Thursday (8:37am), so golf won’t interfere with any celebrating he’s planning. Posting a low round wouldn’t hurt, either.
Harrington, who is making his second start at the Transitions Championship, placed T8 last year.
