Tiger Woods won’t play in next week’s Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, according to his agent Mark Steinberg. There’s been chatter for several months now that Woods might throw in an extra event, which hasn’t traditionally been on his schedule. The speculation heightened after he lost in the first round of the Match Play Championship to Thomas Bjorn. (Tiger needs more reps, after all.)
But in a statement on Thursday, Steinberg said Tiger will not play at Honda because of “existing commitments.”
The field will still boast some of the top players in the world, including three ranked in the top-seven, Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy.
Tiger’s next start is expected for the Cadillac Championship at Doral on March 10-13. Easy joke, but I’m seriously wondering if Tiger will be issued an Escalade for his courtesy car, and if so, will he actually drive it?
