Defending champion Ian Poulter may have been upset by Stewart Cink in the first round of the Match Play Championship, but at least Poulter is still golf’s champion Tweeter. After waking up from a dream he got knocked out of Match Play, he tweeted, “Maybe I should give @Tigerwoods a call and see if we can have game this weekend. We could have our own Matchplay. #Nothingbettertodo.”
Here’s a screen grab of all four of Poulter’s tweets so far on Thursday morning.
Careful, Poults — Golf Channel might come knocking on your door or show up on the first tee if Tiger accepts your suggestion!
No word from @TigerWoods yet. Color me five shades of not-so-shocked. He’s probably too busy impressing his Isleworth buddies with his vintage Tiger range sessions. Or just too pissed.
Anyway, well played, Poulter. Maybe GC will show your buddy Lee Westwood hit more than one chip on the telecast today. He is no. 1 in the world, after all. Which is supposed to garner him some respect, but ratings might be the operative word for GC execs. Phil vs. Rickie or Westy vs. Watney — which match will amass more interest?
