As you may know, I’m spending the rest of the week at Pebble Beach Golf Resort, writing about my experiences playing golf (Spyglass Hill, Spanish Bay and Pebble Beach) and the other activities happening at the Lexus Champions for Charity tournament. The trip is courtesy of Lexus, which has brought in myself and Shane Bacon as their bloggers to cover the event (hooray for new media!). Check out more info on the charity event that has raised more than $135 million. For more pictures and updates, follow me on Twitter and join the WUP Facebook page.
Playing Pebble Beach for the first time is a special moment for any golfer. Heck, it’s incredible just to be on the premises to cover a tournament. You know, like the US Open. Saturday was an especially memorable day, (which I’ll go into more detail tomorrow).
One of the highlights was meeting Peter Jacobsen, who was playing with USGA Chief of Marketing Barry Hyde (who is awesome), Peter’s right-hand man Mike O’Connell and Lexus exec Dave Nordstrom. Meanwhile, we — other Lexus execs, Shane Bacon and I — were playing behind him. On the 6th hole, we combined our groups to play in a ninesome for two holes. It was a little hectic, but a fun experience. (I mean, you gotta try a ninesome at some point in life, right?)
Peter, who is the friendliest, most personable guy (as you all already know), took a few minutes to do an impromptu flip video interview on the breathtaking tee on No. 8. We chatted about the approach shot and the US Open in June, among other things. Check it out — if nothing else for the view!
Thanks again, Peter! And, wait, which one of your sons is single again?
