As those of you who follow my Twitter feed are aware, I was invited to play some golf in the Philadelphia-area this weekend. A few weeks ago, I got an email from someone we’ll call Baxter, asking if I was free to talk shop over a round at Merion and/or Pine Valley the weekend of Oct 23-24. Naturally, I checked my calender only to see that I had penciled in “Golf Channel telecast of JT Vegas Fall Series event.” So, unfortunately, I had to write back with my regrets.
Yeah, right. I figured I could fit it in my schedule — that is, if Augusta forgot to call. Anyway, so, I trekked down to Philly on Saturday morning to play at Merion with Baxter and his colleague/friend/fellow WASP, whom we’ll call Chester. And then, as Baxter informed me on Friday evening, we’d received a last minute invitation to play Aromimink (site of this summer’s AT&T National) on Sunday. Of course, only if I was up to it. No pressure or anything.
“Okay, maybe. I’m just concerned about my back (I have severe chronic back pain),” I replied.
/punching self in face ten minutes later
God, I’m a moron. Uh, it’s a no-brainer (to play Aronimink). Especially since I’d been dying to play it since the AT&T National. Seriously, I couldn’t stop talking about it that week.
I’m sure you’re all sitting on the edge of your seats for details on the golf and the Phillies game that Baxter and Chester tossed in for kicks after our day at Merion. But I don’t have time to finish the story right now and discuss the intricacies of my lovely rounds, so you’ll have to wait until this afternoon. tomorrow morning (sorry, but have to work on the not-as-fun work).
I know, I’m such a tease.
In the meantime, I’d like to hear about your weekend golf games/tales/fun. Spill.
