After playing just one tournament since August 29, the LPGA Tour is back this week at the Navistar Classic. And look who’s dominating again — Cristie Kerr.
After briefly taking over world No. 1 with a torrid stretch of play in June that included a win at the State Farm Classic and a 12-shot shellacking at the LPGA Classic, Kerr is flashing that form again, sitting at 17-under through three rounds to lead by three. She reached as low as 20-under, but finished with a double-bogey and a bogey on her last four holes.
Kerr is currently No. 3 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking, but the top five golfers are separated by just 0.67 points. Speaking of the rankings, Michelle Wie is the next ranked American at No. 7, while Paula Creamer is 10th. That order surprised me.
