The Ryder Cup Plot Thickens…Well, at Least the Walls Did
By Stephanie Wei under Ryder Cup

European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie has sound-proofed his team room at Celtic Manor to prevent Americans from listening in. Apparently, you never know when American team captain Corey Pavin or the Captainess might press a cup against the wall and steal secrets.

Things are already getting heated and emotions are running high!

Monty doesn’t want any noise to stray into the adjacent room like at Valhalla in 2008 when captain Sir Nick Faldo hired DJ Spoony to bang on some drums as a way to pump up Team Europe. Instead, it was said to have the opposite effect and it appeared the Europeans weren’t taking the matches seriously. American captain Paul Azinger used it to rally his team in the upset over Europe.

Monty won’t go down in Ryder Cup history as Captain Useless.
