Here, Ian Poulter, who recently reached 1 million followers, headed to Twitter on Sunday evening to express his letdown over Colin Montgomerie’s captain’s picks to round out the European Ryder Cup team. Even though Poults won’t discuss shoulda, woulda, couldas, it’s clear that the trio of Edoardo Molinari, Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington wouldn’t have been his top-three choices.
Now that’s understandable given he’s close friends with fellow Englishmen Justin Rose and Paul Casey, who were arguably snubbed by Monty. (Opinions will differ, but point is, a good case can be made for each of the guy’s Monty did pick — though leaving Casey off the team seemed rather curious.) I’m sure there were some behind-the-scenes ranting by several players who feel they were slighted.
As indicated by Monty, if the injured Lee Westwood isn’t healthy enough by the matches, he’ll likely be replaced by Rose.
Meanwhile, I wonder what Poults and Rose drank for their night-cap.
