I caught a 6:30AM flight to Milwaukee this morning. Good news is that I’m here early. Bad news is that I didn’t really get any sleep last night. I was too anxious about sleeping through my alarm at 4AM that I tossed and turned until I thought, screw it. Well, here am I — ready (kinda) to cover the PGA Championship, glory’s last shot!
I can’t believe I’ll have covered three of the four majors in 2010. (Hooray!) I feel extremely lucky. I would have never fathomed such great opportunities just a few months ago. It’s going to be hard to top Pebble Beach and St. Andrews, so Whistling Straits better be up for the challenge. I think everyone will be happy if there’s an exciting finish with some big names.
Well, this week will be a similar drill to St. Andrews. I start writing for the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday/Wednesday. You’ll be able to find my work there and I’ll post the links here, too. Please come say hi when I live-blog, which I’m assuming will be all the tournament rounds in the afternoons.
Oh, but you know what I’m looking forward to the most? The 90-120 minute shuttle rides from the hotel to the course! I plan on leading some annoying sing-a-longs. “100 bottles of beer on the wall, 100 bottles of beer …” Kidding! Hope there will be wireless, so at least I can get work done.
I’ll check in at least once a day, but Merf will be posting regularly on WUP starting on Tuesday. (Thanks, Merf!) I’m a little disoriented as I can’t believe it’s already the week of the PGA Championship. Got any tips or story ideas? Want to tell me everything I need to know about Whistling Straits? Please email me (email@example.com) or Merf (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Here’s to one more major in 2010!
