The final round of the Travelers last Sunday was Chad Reynolds’ last day working for Vijay Singh. Reynolds has decided to go for upside potential, leaving Veej to loop for Nick Watney, who has a share of the lead after the first round at the AT&T National.
So, was Reynolds just sick of working 150 hour weeks? (We’ve heard about how grueling it is to work for Veej from his ex-looper.) Or did Vijay, who has struggled most of the year, give him the ax?
“Just time for a change for all parties involved,” a source told me. “Except Nick’s caddie [Tim Goodell]. He’s pretty crushed.”
But it appears it was Reynolds’ decision to trade in for the up-and-coming Watney. Vijay has Dave Clark on the bag this week at Aronimink. Meanwhile, Goodell is the odd man out in the shake-up, and as of Thursday afternoon, he hadn’t found a new gig yet.
So, hey, Tour players, if you’re looking for a new bag man, give Tim a call.
