The morning guys are well into their first rounds and the leaderboard is, well, an early Thursday US Open leaderboard. You never know who’s going to be on there. KJ Choi has been leading the charge. He started the day three-over after three before he caught fire to get to three-under through 14. I’m off to watch him play the last few holes.
Mike Weir, Ian Poulter and David Toms are all at two-under. Interestingly enough, Poults had never seen the course before he arrived this past weekend. Meanwhile, wild Phil showed up today — not the good kind of wild, but the kind where he’s dunking it in the water and missing putts. He’s four-over through 14. Whoops!
By the way, take a closer look at the above picture of Miguel Angel Jimenez. Can you see what I’m talking about? See the close-up after the jump.
“You never seen this before? It’s for my cigar,” Jimenez said in a thick Spanish accent to Vijay Singh, who was hitting in front of him on Wednesday afternoon.
