Michelle Wie has signed a two-year sponsorship deal with McDonald’s — which is great news for both her and the LPGA. For a tour that’s struggling to land tournament sponsors, this obviously could super-size the cause.
Last week Wie shot a commercial for Mickey D’s in California that will roll out in April. She’ll also be the face promoting the launch of the fast food restaurant’s smoothies in May.
Given the sweeping presence of the hamburger chain, Wie’s image plastered on billboards and in commercials will heighten exposure of her brand and women’s golf. Hooray! Perhaps more people will watch LPGA tournaments. You know, when they actually have them on US soil.
Wait, what? Oh yeah, the LPGA kicks off its first domestic event this week in California with the Kia Classic. So don’t forget to tune in to the Golf Channel’s coverage (assuming Tiger doesn’t make some sort of groundbreaking announcement that forces the world to stop this weekend).
Oh, just a random, really important question that’s eating away at me — will I have the option to add a smoothie to the #2 double cheeseburger value meal?
