This morning ESPN’s Josh Elliott opened SportsCenter’s 10 minutes and 23 seconds of coverage on the story (rise and shine, America!), “According to Benoit Denizet-Lewis, the author of a new book detailing his own sexual addiction, Tiger Woods is receiving treatment at a sexual rehabilitation clinic in Mississippi…Woods’ presence at the clinic was previously reported by Radaronline.com and two Mississippi television stations.”
Again, Benoit would like to make it clear that he did not break the story — “As I said, I can’t speak to anything in specifics. I just had a source that confirmed what others had already written.” No, his credibility just turned it into a potential firestorm.
Well, he’s now the authority, speaking for almost nine minutes about Tiger and what it’s like in a sex rehab facility. (Congrats!) Supposedly there’s homework and intense therapy sessions, and Tiger needs to do what everyone does: “Get honest.” Also, sex addicts have to sign “celibacy contracts,” which is intended to force them to “sit with uncomfortable feelings.” What was he (allegedly) doing this morning? “He’s probably in group therapy,” says Benoit.
