And that will be the most challenging project of funnyman Steve Carell’s career. According to Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. and Carell have acquired “Missing Links,” a golf comedy based on a Reilly novel, where Carell plays the hapless golfing protagonist “searching for a better place to play.”
Reilly’s last movie-making vehicle, “Leatherheads” starring George Clooney, was critically panned and did terrible box office numbers. So if Clooney can’t make Reilly’s zany prose palatable, Carell better hope the screenwriter (“The Break-Up’s” Jay Lavender) can do the seemingly impossible.
Good luck with that.
