The Colorado Golf Association’s website noted that the LPGA and Colorado Golf Club plan to make an announcement on August 6th.
The national office of the LPGA on Monday scheduled a “very special announcement” for next week at Colorado Golf Club in Parker. Expected to attend the announcement about what a Colorado Golf Club official is calling a “major international event” are LPGA Tour veteran Juli Inkster and officials from CGC and the LPGA. The press conference is planned for Aug. 6.
Hmm…I wonder what this announcement will be. Perhaps CGC will be the new home of the LPGA Championship? For the past four years, it was held at Bull Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace, Maryland. The LPGA’s contract with the course expired this year and was not renewed.
Or perhaps better yet, it will be a new sponsor and an event to add to the calendar for 2010! Both options would be great news! Until then, I’ll be pondering the possibilities. Thoughts, anyone?
Update! Pbeford informed me via Twitter: “Local insiders in Denver suggest Solheim Cup for 2013 plus a rotation course stop for the LPGA Championship.” I should have immediately realized it would be the Solheim Cup, especially since Inkster is involved and the note said “international!”
Update 2, July 30: A reliable source confirms that the 2013 Solheim Cup will be held at Colorado Golf Club.
