Justin Timberlake’s Eco-Friendly Course Opens
By Stephanie Wei under General

Justin Timberlake is bringing sexy back to golf. He likes the game. In fact, he enjoys it so much that he bought a course in his hometown, Memphis, TN, to save it from developers. He wanted to give back to the community and make it nicer by renovating the course. He discovered one of the options was to make it more environmentally-friendly. $16 million later, Mirimichi Golf Course is the first green course in the country.

Some of the eco-friendly features include native landscaping, irrigation systems that take full advantage of rainwater, and electric golf carts powered by solar panels.

The green fees are reasonably priced as well — $59 during the week and $71 on the weekends.

It officially opened on Saturday and J-Tim teed it up with his parents. Apparently he bombed his drive 291 yards off the first tee. What a baller.

It’s nice to see the pop star doing something fantastic for the community and golf. How about hosting a celebrity pro-am at Mirimichi? It’s probably in the works already. I just ask that he breaks out with a little song and dance number after every birdie – I kid, kind of cheesy, but it would be funny…

The more press on J-Tim and golf, the better. Maybe it’ll attract more fans and teeny-boppers to take up the game? I mean, if Justin is playing golf, it must be cool.
