I was playing with a friend last summer and he broke out his hybrid. I gave him a baffled look and said, “What the heck is that thing? The pros are actually using those?” Where had I been? Oh, that’s right, not playing much golf. Basically, post-competitive golf days, I hadn’t kept up-to-date on the advances in technology. It should have come as no surprise that a lot changes in 3-4 years. I was not playing as often, so I didn’t see the point in buying new clubs and there aren’t many places for me to purchase them in NYC. But now I’m playing more (perhaps it has something to do with penning a golf blog), and it’s probably about time to upgrade the TaylorMade 320i I’ve had since circa 1999.
I’ve been looking at sites to catch up on the latest equipment and simply where I can purchase clubs. So far, one of the best I’ve come across is TheGolfChannel.com’s “Warehouse.” (I know, that’s not particularly shocking.) If you go to the equipment section, it’s organized according to different categories, such as “Mens Woods,” Mens Irons,” “Utility/Hybrid Clubs,” “Ladies Wood/Iron Sets,” “Putters,” among others. You can also select filters for model, brand, shaft type and loft. Then, the search engine shows which clubs match your preferences, and most clubs have product reviews and ratings – which is always helpful. And they have a gargantuan inventory, so chances are you’ll find what you’re looking for.
If you’re not looking for clubs, you can also shop for Bags, Balls, Specialty and Travel Items. And of course, stopping by the On Sale aisle is always a must. Hey, you never know what you might find there, especially these days as bargains are easy to come by. Hooray for consumers!
Point being, TheGolfChannel.com provides a huge selection of equipment, not to mention it’s very user-friendly. Give it a shot.
