Tiger Woods is making an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon this Thursday. And he’s accepted the host’s challenge to play him in a game of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 on the Wii. That just makes all the more reason to tune in, right?
I’ll admit that I don’t know much about video games these days. But I’ve heard that TW 10 is as close as you’ll get to the real thing via golf simulation. It sounds pretty amazing and fun. In fact, I’m considering getting one for myself. I could practice in the comforts of my own home – which I know sounds lame, but since I live in the City, it’d be absolutely perfect and a smart investment. I could practice without going to hit overpriced range balls at Chelsea Piers.
It gets better – wait for it – Real time weather conditions are applied to the game! I know you’re thinking the same thing: The rainy US Open and NYC. The good news is that the weather forecast predicts a high of 87 and SUNNY for Thursday.
It appears that there is one downside though. The commentary. Now there’s a shocker. TW 10 is hosted by ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt and the Golf Channel’s Kelly Tilghmann! I don’t mind Van Pelt, so that’s cool. As for Kelly, well, this speaks for my feelings relatively well. Who am I to judge though? Doubtful I could do better. Just saying. Anyway, the mute button is always an option.
Back to the point – Jimmy Fallon vs. Tiger Woods. I’m going to take a little gamble and lay the odds at 3-1 on Fallon – who I’m sure is practicing rigorously for the big moment. At the same time, it is Tiger’s own video game and real life swing mechanics do apply (to some extent). Minor details.
Now this is probably one of the few times I’ll bet against Tiger. So on the rare occasion, anyone up for a wager?
